Sailing Activities
We've found that nothing is better for team building than a day out in the elements, getting away from corporate constraints and boundaries and just focusing on working together.
Sailing the Amelie Rose, provides a superb setting for groups to practice leadership, communication and teamwork. She is no ordinary yacht, she is a pilot cutter, a traditional working boat from the 1800s. The reason we work with the Amelie Rose is that she needs much more team effort than a modern yacht; there are more sails, less gadgets, and many jobs that need to be carried out simultaneously. Successfully sailing the Amelie Rose needs constant communication and the ability to rely on each other - attributes that are core to the operation of great teams.

Sailing is complex, just like business, with a number of tasks happening at the same time and where quick decision making, teamwork, communication and individual accountability are vital to achieve success. Each team member’s role is crucial whether you are trimming the sails, helming or navigating the boat. We find that sailing the Amelie Rose is a better analogy to business activity than many other “Outward Bound” style courses.
Sailing demands a lot both physically and mentally and after a day at sea your team will feel that they have achieved a huge amount. They will have sailed this traditional boat, challenged themselves individually and as a team, shared memorable experiences and forged relationships.
No previous sailing experience is required. Wet weather gear and life-jackets will be supplied. Amelie Rose is certified by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency for Charter work with up to 12 Guests. When there are more than 12 guests we have the ability to use additional pilot cutters.
